Less than a year since forming, OC-based Hangar 75 has already made a name for itself as one of the fastest growing venture factories in California.
In the midst of the Covid pandemic they have been able to keep their foot on the accelerator.
Their first venture, Plybot, launched on Kickstarter on January 21st, 2021. It will come as no surprise to managing partners Ian Wilding and Grant Van Cleve, that their winning formula proved successful once again.
Within 20-hours of launch on Kickstarter, their venture rose to the top, awarded the Top Tech Global Product, and Third best amongst all product categories; climbing above almost 3,000 ventures from across the globe.
“Success comes from surfacing, evolving and enriching the right ideas. That combined with solid execution and an eye on value creation,” explained Ian Wilding. “Our first 24-hours on Kickstarter was able to demonstrate consumer demand, market fit, and all important sales. Traction within Kickstarter seems to be validating the customer acquisition thesis, paving the way for multiple millions in sales the coming year. More than enough momentum to solicit an acquisition bid from one of several brands wishing to partner on our go to market strategy."
Plybot is one of several ventures hitting Orange County over the coming months from Hangar 75, in real estate, finance, marketplaces amongst others.
Grant Van Cleve says, “The core investors in these ventures so far have come from Tech Coast Angels members, and others in Orange County. They were drawn by the model which has potential to produce safer returns, in less time, for such angel investors.”
Hangar 75’s ‘venture factory’ expects to launch 10 new companies a year, all OC based.
