Summer Virtual Class for Teen Entrepreneurs from Stanford GSB Lecturer

The Hacking Entrepreneurship class is an immersive online summer workshop that is looking for teens who want to use this summer to prepare themselves to build tomorrow by strengthening their entrepreneurial skill sets. Hacking Entrepreneurship_opt

The program teaches teen dreamers, doers, creators, pioneers, trailblazers, explorers, inventors, risk-takers, changemakers, visionaries and idealists the “Six Essential Skills”  of entrepreneurship. 

This framework is based on five years of research at Harvard and over 200 interviews with today’s top entrepreneurs including the founders of LinkedIn, Airbnb, SpaceX and Tesla Motors, Under Armour, Chipotle, Dropbox, Yelp, and JetBlue, among others.

This virtual course is taught by Lecturer in Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business and best-selling author of The Creator's Code: The Six Essential Skills of Extraordinary Entrepreneurs, Amy Wilkinson, and an all Stanford team of Teaching Assistants.  They've created the Hacking Entrepreneurship class for high schoolers to help teens adapt to today's new realities.

2 Angel Investing Seminars at UCI

Interested in learning more about Angel Investing in startup ventures?  Angel Capital Association 400

Everyone in the startup community is invited to attend two seminars offered by the Angel Capital Association on Tuesday, November 6. 

Both will be held at the Cove at UC-Irvine.

SEMINAR 1:  Fundamentals of Angel Investing Seminar (Nov 6 - $125):

Learn about including angel investments in startup companies in your asset portfolio by joining a new half-day seminar where the ACA will be introducing accredited investors to the fundamentals of angel investing.

Led by seasoned pros, the seminar will offer insight into angel investing as an asset class, with the focus on anticipated returns, portfolio strategy, valuation of early-stage companies, conducting due diligence, understanding term sheets and angel involvement in portfolio companies after the investment.

Attendees will receive a workbook and a copy of The Fundamentals of Angel Investing by Hambleton Lord and Christopher Mirabile (a $25 value).

Come to learn the basics, participate in discussions, and to network with new and experienced angel investors.

SEMINAR 2:  Term Sheet Basics Seminar (Nov 6 - $125):

This half-day introductory seminar will provide clear, practical information about early-stage term sheets, with focus on helping newer angel investors understand and evaluate startup investment deal terms.

The course will include lectures, interviews and an engaging exercise for its attendees.

Key concepts covered in the seminar include:

  • Corporate structures preferred by investors
  • Advantages and disadvantages of equity versus debt and derivative alternatives
  • Practical framework for the important components of term sheets
  • What terms like “liquidation preference” and “participation rights” mean
  • Key terms to address investors’ concerns
  • Basic philosophy for negotiation
