Born in California - UC's Startup Showcase
Exciting times at UCI Beall Applied Innovation: UCI hosted the best new startups from the University of California school system!
The inaugural two day "Born in California"(R) conference offered "demo day" style startup pitches from dozens of young companies, as well as Q&A from investors, and networking opportunities, too.
Born in California® demo days featured the University of California’s best and most investment-worthy startups in many different industries. These included early stage ventures in Life Sciences, Digital Health, Technology, Consumer, and Sustainability - all seeking Seed and Series A investors.
Startup teams presented cutting-edge entrepreneurial innovations from UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, UC San Francisco, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Davis.
Everything was hosted in the beautiful "Cove" at UCI Beall Applied Innovation's facilities at UC Irvine, including the huge video wall in the main presentation room, called "The Beach".
Thanks to all the presenters for sharing the results of their work with the audiences.
Congratulations to the UCI Beall Applied Innovation team, including UCI event hosts new UCI Chief Innovation Officer and Executive Director of UCI Beall Applied Innovation Errol Arkilic, Director of New Ventures Matt Hanson, and Director of Scalable Ventures Incubation Juan Felipe Vallejo, for hosting this great new event supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in diverse California communities.
Entertainment and refreshments were shared with all the participants to reward a job well done.
Entrepreneurs enjoyed building relationships with other startup teams, connecting with new resources, and meeting the many angel investors and venture capital firms in attendance.
The hallways and patios were buzzing with funding discussions.
Attendees all expect several investment announcements in coming weeks thanks to the Born in California conference.
Watch this space for good news and stay tuned for Born in California V2.0 next year!
