New OC Startup Job: Director of the Octane OC LaunchPad SBDC

Octane OC is looking for a new Director, LaunchPad SBDC to join its team.

The Director, LaunchPad SBDC is primarily responsible for providing the leadership of the LaunchPad SBDC accelerator program at Octane. Octane OC To screen and track innovative med tech and high technology companies applying to the accelerator. Maintain, analyze and publishing data that will increase the overall success and impact of the LaunchPad program and advance the mission of OCTANe.

Essential functions include:

  • Generating and managing the LaunchPad SBDC deal flow process from application to graduation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the process of equity financing, including all stages of the evaluation process, and methods of valuing companies for investment, particularly in pre-revenue stages.
  • Prior experience with the investment industry, including equity investment, debt financing, angel investment and other forms of financial support for start-up and early-stage technology companies.
  • Lead and coordinate the LaunchPad panels to gather the appropriate industry experts to evaluate the LaunchPad companies. 
  • Support the LaunchPad predictive analytics process and tracking the progress of LaunchPad companies in acquiring investment capital.
  • Support and manage the relationships with the grant supports of LaunchPad SBDC. 

In addition, the Director of LaunchPad SBDC, as part of the Octane team, will assist with Octane Programs, Signature Events, Partnerships and other Octane activities as assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:

  • BA/BS                                                                                              

Minimum Experience required:

  • Entrepreneur or 3-5 years business experience in a role focused on professional relationship development
  • Existing network of investors, entrepreneurs and service providers a major plus
  • Ability to integrate with Clients and the broad ecosystem of Octane connections seamlessly                                                                                              

Skills Required:

  • Action oriented and able to independently handle multiple, competing tasks, with strong delivery focus. Proactive and always keen to move initiatives forward.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills; ability to communicate confidently, clearly and sensitively.
  • Comfortable with a changing environment and a variety of responsibilities, keen to excel in a lean team and able to work independently with minimal direction but high expectations.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, often chaotic environment.
  • Passionate about tech and venture capital.
