Why does Silicon Valley continue to kick so much butt?

Hi MasterMind.

The number of new companies and the amount of wealth generated by Silicon Valley tech startups is a wonder of the modern world.

How does the Bay Area keep doing it year after year???

Sure, the region had advantages historically:  Stanford University, a fledgling technology industry, a creative hippy cultural legacy, nice weather, etc.

But all that is really a series of accidents whose luck should have run out by now. And Silicon Valley has continued to grow and dominate the technology startup world for decades now....

How do they keep doing it?

It's about community.

Silicon Valley has built a unique community that recognizes the importance of helping startup founders.

The culture there identifies promising young companies and supports their growth from the earliest stages.  They have cultivated a community of experienced executives, service providers, and especially early stage investors who are primed to help with advice, introductions, money, and more.

All these factors work together to create an ecosystem that helps to accelerate an amazing number of companies to success out in the Bay Area.

GUESS WHAT?

We're doing that here in Orange County, too!

The Orange County Startup Council is dedicated to accelerating the innovation ecosystem right here in your backyard. Our members are young Orange County-based companies who are expanding the frontiers of commerce, science, marketing, content and technologies of all sorts.

They're supported by world-class universities, angel and venture capital investors, lawyers, accountants, banks, marketing firms, software developers and all the pieces that we need.

Are you ready to get more involved?

The Orange County tech startup ecosystem is waiting for you!

A great place to start is the OC Startup Council's monthly Meetups for early stage tech company entrepreneurs called the “MasterMinds OC Startup Accelerator Workshops”.

These fun, cheap (free) events are designed specifically to help people new to entrepreneurship get going with their first ventures in the technology space.

We focus on software startups mostly, but hardware and related disciplines are welcome, too.

Every one of our workshops includes friendly introductions and networking with local angel investors, experienced startup veterans, legal and financial experts, and especially other founders who are looking to help grow the pie.
